Jessica established her private counseling practice, Psychotherapy Associates of Tampa Bay, L.L.C., in July of 2008 following her employment as a psychotherapist on staff with the University of South Florida’s (USF) Psychiatry Center. Jessica has been a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (FL License # MH 8137) since 2004 and is recognized as a National Certified Counselor (N.C.C.) by the National Board for Certified Counselors (N.B.C.C) as well as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (A.C.S.) by the Center for Credentialing and Education (C.C.E.). Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in psychology degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in psychology degree from Boston University, as well as a second Master of Arts (M.A.) degree from the California School of Professional Psychology (C.S.P.P.) in San Diego. Jessica is currently a Doctoral Candidate at Argosy University working on her dissertation in pursuant to a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree.
Jessica is designated as a Qualified Mental Health Counselor Supervisor by the State of Florida Board of Health to oversee the formal postgraduate clinical training of registered interns who are in the process of applying for mental health counseling state licensure. A few of Jessica’s clinical specialties/areas of interest include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, bereavement/grief, adjustment to chronic medical illness, codependency, stress management, aging issues, self-esteem, anger management, as well as pet loss grief support therapy. While her approach to counseling and means of conceptualizing cases is largely cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused with a client-centered emphasis, Jessica draws from a number of theoretical orientations and employs various treatment interventions that are dependent on her clients’ presenting issue(s), needs, as well as personal preferences. She works with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues and provides services to her clients that range from therapy for depression and grief counseling to parenting support, couples counseling and beyond. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, she offers a highly personalized approach that is uniquely tailored to her clients' individual needs in order to help them attain the personal growth for which they are striving.
Jessica is proud to be a lifetime member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society (Boston University inductee), a professional member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), as well as a select member of the National Association for Professional Women (NAPW). She is credentialed as an in-network participating provider with a variety of behavioral health insurance plans as well as Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and is currently accepting new patients for her beautiful Westchase office location.
